The Underwater Fancy-Dress Parade

The day before the underwater fancy-dress parade, Alfie got that feeling ...

Sometimes it's hard to be brave. Sometimes you get that feeling. Sometimes you're just not ready until, one day, you are.

From a dynamic picture-book partnership comes the story of Alfie and a big octopus wearing a tiny hat and the things you can only whisper to the cowboys on your wallpaper.

The Underwater Fancy Dress Parade is a truly gentle and beautiful story about a sensitive boy's feelings of fear and anxiety when faced with a social situation. Alfie's parents' responses to his feelings show real empathy and understanding of the situation, and teach that sometimes its okay not to have to confront your fears.

Allison Colpoys' exquisite artwork is simply gorgeous, and combined with the words from author Davina Bell, make this a very special story indeed, read sensitively by the divine Lorin Clarke.
